Julien Bouteloup

I build, fund, and research systems that replace fragile infrastructure with stronger primitives.

My work sits at the intersection of computation, engineering, cryptography, economics, and sovereignty, from decentralized finance and encrypted computation to AI, sovereign compute, and data infrastructure.

These are not just technical fields. They are the foundations on which the next decade of power, ownership, privacy, coordination, and scientific progress will be built.

Stake Capital Group

I lead Stake Capital Group, a venture and technology platform built around a simple conviction: infrastructure is the product. SCG combines capital deployment, applied research, and hands-on incubation across decentralized infrastructure, protocol governance, cryptoeconomic design, scalability, game theory, and applied mathematical systems. With over 200 investments to date, the firm operates directly inside the systems it builds and backs, rather than observing them from the outside.

DTF Ventures

Through DTF Ventures, I back founders working at the edge of what infrastructure can become, particularly where computation, cryptography, and physical systems intersect.

My thesis is that the next century will be shaped by control over intelligence, energy, computation, biology, security, and coordination. Current positions include Anthropic, Polymarket, Harmattan, Lucis, and many more.

AI Compute

I am actively involved in building large-scale AI compute capacity, with a target of several billion dollars in compute volume.

Compute access is becoming one of the defining infrastructure battles of this decade: who controls it, who can afford it, who can verify it, and under what jurisdiction it operates. Decentralizing and sovereignizing compute access may matter as much in the AI cycle as decentralizing finance mattered in the previous one.

Advisory

I advise and sit on the boards of companies including Zama, Curve, Backed Finance, and Morpho. My work focuses on a set of hard, connected problems: confidential computation, privacy-preserving systems, scalable decentralized infrastructure, trusted and verifiable compute, data sovereignty, governance design, and incentive systems that cannot afford a single point of failure.

Companies

I have founded, co-founded, or joined at very early stages a number of companies that led to multi-billion dollar valuations. Some notable ones include Curve Finance, where I was the first core team member and spent four years leading business development and partnerships; Stake DAO, a governance and yield infrastructure platform managing over $200M in assets; and Rekt News, one of crypto's most trusted platforms for security accountability and transparency.

Interests

I think deeply about applied mathematics, mechanism design, game theory, and the boundary between economics and computer science, especially how incentive systems behave under adversarial conditions at scale.

I originated the concept and first architecture of liquid staking, a primitive that now underlies tens of billions in staked assets globally. I continue to write and build at the intersection of cryptoeconomics, governance, scalability, and modular protocol design, while increasingly getting involved in deep tech projects ranging from quantum computing and fusion to space, robotics, sovereign compute, and advanced scientific infrastructure.

Architecture, modularity, and timeless systems thinking shape how I approach both software and physical infrastructure.

Outside of that: kitesurfing, surfing, Ironman triathlons, paddle, travel, and more DIY projects than is probably reasonable.
